Welcome to the Midwest Tribal Mafia
In the year 2008, the three Godmothers got together to begin planning an event. What they wanted, was to bring the Midwest tribal bellydance community together to celebrate the many instructors and dancers we have. Tribal style bellydancing really focuses on the troupe, the tribe, the family. When the Godmothers were trying to find a name for the event, the theme was family and community. In a search for words that conjur the idea of family, they stumbled upon the word "Mafia". And, well... this is the Midwest, and they are from Chicago ... After a silent pause and several "guilty pleasure" type looks and grins, each Godmother confessed that they were cool wiht the idea. And, the Midwest Tribal Mafia was born.
Welcome to the Family
The focus of the weekend-long event is to offer the teaching opportunity to instructors located in the midwest. And, to give the opportunity to all students and other teachers to take these workshops and learn things from these close-but-not-close-enough instructors. The instructors were named the "Donnas" of the family. Each workshop registrant has become a "GoodBella".
A Show you Can't Refuse
Every Donna is asked to perform in the show. And, local area dancers get to strut their stuff on the MTM stage. And every show, a song is chosen and the six Donnas perform a finale together to close the show. You never know what will happen on stage...
